AMES, Iowa – Rachel Joseph has been named the Women's Track and Field Big 12 Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
The six-time All-American earns the honor after setting an all-time 400m best of 50.55, taking down the Texas A&M Alumni Muster meet record and the Iowa State outdoor record for the seventh time. It was a PR by .11 seconds as the senior sprinted by herself winning the event by .81 seconds.
Joseph ranks first in the Big 12, fifth nationally and 10th in the world with the time. Joseph then reset her 200m school record with 23.21 at Texas A&M. Joseph has now broke or reset an individual ISU record 19 times and holds the top 27 400m times in program history.
This is Joseph's second weekly award. The Richmond, Texas native joins Lisa Koll as the lone Cyclone women to earn multiple Big 12 weekly outdoor awards. ISU now totals 12 honors outdoors.
Joseph and the No. 18 ISU women are back in action Friday hosting the Cyclone Twilight.
