AMES, Iowa - During the 2025-26 season, the Iowa State men's golf team finished in third place or better four times, and had two Cyclones qualify for the NCAA Regionals.
KEY STORYLINES
- Seniors Paul Beauvy and Zach May qualified for the NCAA Columbus Regional, tying for 51st and 57th, respectively. Beauvy and May bring Iowa State's total to 13 student-athletes to be selected to an NCAA Regional in program history. It is the fourth-straight year that a Cyclone has been selected, with Beauvy being selected last year and Luke Gutschewski earning a trip the two seasons prior.
-Â This season, Beauvy led the team in scoring (71.37), the ninth-best single season stroke average in ISU history, as well as leading the Cyclones in birdies (118). The Saint-Alban, France native finished in the Top-10 five times this season, including the second tournament win of his career at the Gopher Invitational (-8) to start the year. Beauvy set a school record for stroke average over a career at 71.62 and carded a career-best 11 rounds in the 60's this season.
- May, who qualified for his first NCAA Regional, was third in scoring this season for ISU at 72.09, a career-best mark. The Christchurch, New Zealand native placed in the Top-3 three times this season, and recorded career-bests in lowest round (65) and rounds in the 60's (8). May ends his career in 11th (73.46) on the career stroke average list and set a school record for a 72-hole score in a conference tournament (282, +2).
- Owen Sawyer finished second in stroke average this year for ISU at 71.93, a career-low and 15th-best in team history. Sawyer placed in the Top-10 four times this season, including a career-best finish at the N.I.T. (3rd) when he shot a career-low 54-hole score of 205 and tied a career-low round of 66 in the final round. The junior from Cedar Falls is currently sixth on the all-time stroke average list at 72.45 and carded a career-high nine rounds in the 60's this year after a combined six rounds in his first two seasons.
- Dianchao Wu had a career-year, finishing with a career-low 73.50 season average. Wu tied a career-low 54-hole score (215) and finish (T-24th) at the Tiger Collegiate Invitational, and tied the fourth-lowest 72-hole score in a conference tournament (287, +7) in ISU history to tie for 32nd at the Big 12 Championship.
- Three Cyclones (Sawyer, Beauvy, and May) shot a 66 or better in the final round of the N.I.T. to finish in third place. ISU's third round score of 266 (-22) is the second-best round in school history, and their 54-hole score of 835 is the sixth-lowest in program history.
- Beauvy finished the regular season with a team-high 29 of his 32 rounds (.906) counting towards the team score. May had the second-most with 27 (.844) and Sawyer contributed 26 of his 30 rounds (.867) to finish third.
