AMES, Iowa – Matt Fannon, Iowa State's head soccer coach since 2020, has announced that his seventh season will be his last as he will retire from the profession at season's end.
Fannon informed the team of his intention to retire on the morning of Thursday, July 30.
"After thorough consideration and deliberate discussions with my family, I've decided this will be my final season," said Fannon. "Coaching has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I'm incredibly honored to have worked under a great administration here at ISU, and to have learned so much from Jamie. I'm looking forward to spending more time with my family and embracing the next chapter. I'm grateful for everyone who's been part of this journey, and I'm excited to make this final season one to remember."
Iowa State is set to open its season on August 12, as it travels to Omaha to take on the Mavericks at 7 pm.
