AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (4-2-1, 0-0 Big 12) closed out its four-game home stand with its fifth clean sheet of the season, blanking Missouri State (2-3-1, 0-0 C-USA) at the CSC by a score of 2-0.

After Missouri State dominated the first 20 minutes of the contest, ISU flipped the script and controlled the remaining 70 minutes of action. After a scoreless first half, ISU found the back of the net twice in the second half to earn their fourth win of the season and third at home.

The Cyclones moved to 4-0 when scoring at least one goal this season, running their goal differential to +8. Both Alaina Villa and Megan Walters became the first Cyclones to record multiple goals this season, each notching their second of the season. Erin Hopewell became the 16^th Cyclone to score a point this season, assisting on Villa's score. Eme McClenahan grabbed her third clean sheet of the year to go along with a pair of combined shutouts as she collected three saves.

Four Bears had a pair of shots on the evening, as Missouri State was limited to just 12 total shots and only three on goal. Both Ellie Neath and Kendall Petoskey played the full 90 minutes, as did keeper Kate Lewis, who finished the contest with five saves.

ISU outshot MSU 20-12 on the night, pouring in 13 shots in the second stanza. Missouri State held the edge in saves, 5-3, but the Cyclones outearned them in corner kicks, 8-2.

How it Happened
Missouri State controlled the early portion of the contest, rattling off six of its eight shots in the first 25 minutes of the opening half. Iowa State's attempts were limited in the first half, as only two of its seven attempts were quality looks, but both were handled by the Bears.

ISU's best attempt of the first half came in the 38^th minute as Regan John fired a cross-box shot to the back corner of the net, only to see it knocked away by Lewis as the game entered the break tied at 0-0.

At the half, Missouri State held a slight shot advantage, 8-7, while the saves were knotted at two apiece. ISU had five corner kicks to MSU's one.

Iowa State came out in the second half carrying its late first-half momentum, ripping six shots in the first 20 minutes. The sixth shot came off Villa's right foot and just cleared Lewis's outstretched hand to put ISU in front, 1-0.

The Cyclones' early offensive onslaught slowed after the goal, as ISU battened down on defense. ISU would allow just four second-half goals as it shut down all MSU's attempts after the break and earned three saves.

An MSU goal kick in the 87^th minute landed just short of midfield and found the foot of Megan Walters. Walters promptly took the ball and snaked through the Bear backline before firing an unassisted goal past Lewis to put things away as ISU went on to win 2-0.
