Lucas White is in his third season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Iowa State football program.
The 2024 season, White's second with the program, was the greatest season in program history. Iowa State finished 11-3 overall, reaching double-digit wins for the first time in school history, and advanced to the program's second-ever conference championship game. ISU went on to win the Pop-Tarts Bowl, defeating Miami 42-41 in a thrilling contest.
Wide receiver Jayden Higgins earned All-America accolades and 15 players earned All-Big 12 recognition, including five on the first or second teams.
The Cyclones outscored opponents 225-127 in the second half and 139-58 in the fourth quarter alone on their way to the record-setting season.
In his first season at Iowa State the Cyclones went 7-6 overall and 6-3 in Big 12 play, posting the largest win improvement (+5) in conference play among Power-5 schools. The Cyclones also earned a trip to the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
Iowa State players gained an average of eight pounds per player during the first offseason with White on the strength and conditioning staff and Iowa State noticeably improved down the stretch in games, outscoring opponents 167-133 in the second half.
Cornerback T.J. Tampa earned All-Big 12 and All-America honors, while safeties Jeremiah Cooper and Beau Freyler joined wide receiver Jaylin Noel and tight end Stevo Klotz in earning all-league accolades as well.
Tampa was later drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
White joined the Cyclones after a two-year stint at Boise State, helping the Broncos to a 17-9 record and a pair of bowl games. The 2022 Boise State team finished 10-4 and reached the Mountain West Conference championship game before winning the Frisco Bowl. The Broncos controlled the line of scrimmage, recording 27 sacks and allowing just 14, while outgaining their opponents by more than 1,200 yards (102.2 per game).
Prior to his time in Boise, White spent two years at San Jose State, working primarily with the men's and women's soccer and track and field programs.
The Evansville, Indiana, native, began his career as a strength and conditioning intern with Mississippi State football in 2016. He also spent time at New Mexico State and Indiana State.
He is a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS). He is certified in First Aid, CPR and AED by the American Heart Association.
White graduated from Southern Indiana in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology.
