LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - Ennis Haywood ran for 189 yards and four touchdowns to lead Iowa State over Kansas 49-7 Saturday.
The Cyclones (6-4, 4-4 Big 12) became bowl eligible for the second straight year. Officials from the Independence Bowl were on hand to scout them.
Iowa State coach Dan McCarney won in Lawrence for the first time since 1989.
The Jayhawks (2-8, 1-7) have lost six straight for the first time since 1988. It was their second lopsided loss under interim head coach Tom Hayes.
The Cyclones forced six turnovers, including a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown by Matt Word. Kansas quarterback Mario Kinsey tied a school record by throwing four interceptions.
Haywood moved into the top 10 in Big 12 career rushing while going over the 1,000-yard mark for the second straight season. He scored on runs of 1, 4, 6 and 13 in the first half.
Seneca Wallace was 5-of-15 for 89 yards and one touchdown for Iowa State. He also rushed for 52 yards while keeping the Jayhawk defense guessing much of the afternoon.
Kansas continued to struggle, with the bulk of its offensive total coming on an 11-play, 80-yard drive to start the third quarter. Byron Gasaway outjumped Iowa State's Atif Austin in the end zone for a 9-yard touchdown.
The game was halted for about five minutes in the third quarter when one of the officials was injured. Field judge Brad Van Vark was carried from the sidelines in a cart with a knee injury he sustained on a pass play.
