"There were very consistent, strong performances from everyone today," stated Coach K.J. Kindler.
In the Senior Solute, team co-captains Karen Kuplicki and Courtney Sarrett, were honored after their last competition at Hilton Coliseum. Kinder commented, "They were always there, always ready to go and that's going to be greatly missed."
Kuplicki placed in a three-way tie for third on the vault with a 9.825. She matched her career high on the bars to finish in a tie for fourth on the bars. Kuplicki scored a 9.925 on the floor to place in a three-way tie for second place.
Sarrett took eighth place on the beam with a 9.825. She also competed exhibition on the floor.
Chee Chee Calina shared second-place honors on the bars with teammate Laura-kay Powell and matched her career high score in the event. Calina placed in a three-way tie for second on the balance beam (9.875).
Sophomore Abigail Richey won the Outstanding Cyclone Gymnast of the Meet Award. She won the vault competition with a career high of 9.950. She matched her season-high score on the bars (9.80) to claim sixth place. Richey placed in a three-way tie for fifth on the beam when she matched her career high score, 9.85. She also competed in exhibition on the floor.
Fellow Sophomore Susan Stock took second place on the vault with a 9.85.
Freshman Erin Dethloff grabbed second place in the all-around competition (39.425). She took second place on the bars (9.925) and won the floor competition by matching her career-high score of 9.950.
For the first time in her collegiate career, freshman Laura-Kay Powell won the all-around competition with a career-high score of 39.550. Powell placed in a three-way tie for third on the vault (9.825). She matched her career-high score to share the second-place honors on the bars (9.90). On the beam Powell matched her career-high score again to finish first in the event (9.90). Once again, she matched her career-high score to finish in a three-way tie for second on the floor (9.925).
