IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The No. 6 Iowa State gymnastics team won over intrastate rival the University of Iowa, 196.950-196.725. The Cyclones outscored the Hawkeyes in every event.
Iowa State freshman Janet Anson grabbed third and marked a career-high in the all-around competition with a 39.575 after tying for first on vault (9.95), sharing a second-place honors on bars (9.85), placing in a four-way tie for second on beam (9.875) and tying for third on floor (9.90). Anson was followed by ISU sophomores Laura-Kay Powell and Erin Dethloff who claimed fourth (39.40) and fifth (38.90), respectively.
Iowa State senior Chee Chee Calina took first-place honors on the beam and matched her career-score, 9.925. Cyclone junior Susan Stock placed in a four-way tie for second, 9.875.
On the vault, Dethloff shared third with Hawkeye Alexis Maday, 9.90.
Powell finished in a three-way tie for third place on the floor, 9.90.
ISU will next play host to No. 3 Nebraska on Friday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.
