MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Sophomore Erin Dethloff matched her career-high score (39.60) in the all-around to aid the No. 6 Iowa State gymnastics team in notching yet another win over No. 25 Minnesota Saturday evening at the Sports Pavilion (196.975-195.175). ISU's team score matches their highest of the 2004 season.
Dethloff's all-around score put her in first place in the all-around competition. She took first-place honors on the floor (9.95) and bars (9.875). Her floor score matched her career-high score. On the beam, Dethloff shared first place with Mary Skokut of Minnesota (9.90). Her vault score earned her second place (9.875).
Freshman Cyclone Janet Anson won the vault competition (9.90). She also took second place in the all-around with a 39.475. Anson tied for third on bars (9.85), placed fourth on beam (9.85) and finished fifth on floor (9.90).
Sophomore Laura-Kay Powell claimed third place in the all-around (39.375) after sharing third on bars with teammate Anson, tying for third on vault (9.825) with Laura Johnson of Minnesota, claiming third on beam (9.875) and sharing sixth on floor with fellow Cyclone sophomore Kacey Oiness (9.85).
Iowa State's Krystal Carney scored a 9.925 to claim second-place honors on floor.
ISU will next play host to No. 25 Minnesota on Sunday, Feb. 29 at 2 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.
