DeLAND, Fla. - Lindsey Cameron hit a three-run home run and Stacey Stevens tossed a three-hit shutout to lift Florida past Iowa State, 5-0, in action at the Stetson Tournament on Sunday morning.
Florida (19-10) lit up the scoreboard in the top of the third as Cameron drove Amie Ford's one-out pitch over the right centerfield wall for a three-run home run and a 3-0 lead.
The Gators again touched the scoreboard for two runs in their next at bat on an error by the Cyclones (11-8) and a single off the bat of Mirelis Torres, increasing the lead to 5-0.
That would be all the run support Stevens (8-2) would need as she kept the Cyclones off balance all morning, striking out four in the game. The Cyclones three hits all came in different innings and they were unable to move anyone past second base.
Jessica Quade, Beth Tharp and Cary Akins recorded the lone singles for the Cyclones, who left five on base.
Cameron led the way for Florida, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Ford (6-4) got the loss for ISU, allowing five runs, three of which were unearned, on four hits.
The Cyclones will face the Stetson Hatters at 11:30 a.m. to close out action in the tournament.
