AMES, Iowa?Texas' Colt McCoy completed 23-of-30 passes and threw for four touchdowns, as the 22-ranked Longhorns defeated Iowa State, 56-3, Saturday afternoon in Jack Trice Stadium. ISU drops to 1-6 with the loss, while UT improves to 5-2.

The Cyclones showed some resolve after the kickoff by mounting a 76-yard drive which began at their own nine-yard line. However, the Cyclones were unable to tally any points, as Bret Culbertson missed a 30-yard field goal. UT then padded its lead to 14-0 when it took its next drive 80 yards on 10 plays. McCoy hit Quan Cosby from six yards out to cap the scoring drive.
ISU's offense again showed signs of life on its next series. The Cyclones used a couple of trick plays to tally a 12-play, 67-yard drive that ended with a 25-yard field goal from Culbertson to make it a 14-3 game with 11:15 left in the first half. The drive was highlighted by a reverse pass from Todd Blythe to Bret Meyer that resulted in a 21-yard gain.

McCoy continued his outstanding performance in the second half. He recorded his fourth touchdown pass early in the period to make it a 35-3 UT advantage, then scrambled 44 yards for a touchdown to improve the Longhorn lead to 49-3 right before the third quarter.
The Cyclones were led by Jason Scales, who rushed for 77 yards on 19 carries. UT had a 514-228 advantage in total offense.
