Shamblin (7-3) handcuffed the Cyclones, striking out 14 Cyclones en route to her seventh win of the season.
Charissa Carlin (1-3) got the loss for the Cyclones, allowing four runs, just two of which were earned, in the loss. Carlin also struck out five in the game.
Elaina Nordstrom led the way for
The Cougars took the lead in the third on a double off the bat of Elaina Nordstrom that plated Katie Bush, who reached on an infield single.
An error on a dropped pop fly cost the Cyclones another run in the fourth as Samantha Cummings came around to score and make it 2-0 in favor of the Cougars.
Nordstrom again came through for the Cougars in the fifth, drilling a single up the middle that scored Jessica Valis, who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.
The Cyclones were unable to get anything going as Shamblin held them hitless for her third career no-hitter.
Iowa State returns to action on Friday, Mar. 2, when it travels to Tulsa, Okla., for the Great Western Downtown Plaza Classic.
