The Tigers (35-19, 11-2 Big 12) took a 3-0 lead after the first inning, which was highlighted by a two-run double by Stringer and a run scoring single from Andee Allen.
The Tigers tacked on two more in the third on another single by Sarah Stringer and another by Micaela Minner, making it 5-0 in favor of the home team.
Iowa State starter Charissa Carlin (9-10) settled in after the third, allowing no more runs and just one hit, a seventh inning single by pinch hitter Amy Henke, over the final three innings.
The Cyclones (22-37, 1-13) were unable to get to
Alex Johnson, Courtney Wray and Jessica Quade had hits for the Cyclones in the loss. Quade's fifth inning double was her fourth this season and the 19th of her career.
Wray reached on an infield single in the second inning to extend her hitting streak to three games. Wray has a hit in six of her last nine at-bats dating back to the final game of the Baylor series last weekend.
