AUSTIN, Texas ? A Jacqueline Williams solo homer in the third inning was the only blemish on Iowa State pitcher Alyssa Ransom's line Saturday afternoon but the Cyclones could not solve Texas hurler Meagan Denny, who tossed a no-hitter, as they fell to the 18th-ranked Longhorns, 1-0, at McCombs Field.
Williams lifted Ransom's second pitch of the third inning over the centerfield wall and Denny (20-13) struck out 11 in the game to hold off the Cyclones (22-38, 1-14 Big 12).

The Cyclones had just three players reach base in the game. ISU threatened in the third as Katie Reichling reached on a fielding error by the Longhorns and advanced to second when Courtney Wray reached on a fielder's choice. After Jessica Quade sacrificed Reichling and Wray to second and third base with one down, Denny got Ashley Killeen to strike out and catcher Megan Willis threw a strike to second to pick off Wray and end the threat.
Williams rode the momentum of the pickoff and hit her sixth homer of the year for the game's only run.
Denny then cruised through the next four innings, allowing just a one-out walk to Alex Johnson in the seventh to get the win.
The Cyclones and Longhorns will square off again Sunday at
