ST. PAUL, Minn. ? Leslie Hill broke a scoreless tie at the 62-minute mark and it proved to be the difference as the ISU soccer team (3-0-1) defeated Montana (1-4-0), 1-0, Friday afternoon in the opening round of the University of Minnesota Gopher Invitational.
The 3-0-1 mark through four games signifies the most successful start in Cyclone soccer history. The previous best was a 3-0 record through three games before Rebecca Hornbacher's 2002 squad lost in its fourth contest.
“Today was a good showing for our team,” said ISU head coach Rebecca Hornbacher. “The effort was there and we created quality scoring opportunities. Leslie Hill put herself in good position to score and had a quality finish. We still need to continue to execute our game plan and capitalize on our opportunities. Our back line and midfield play was the best it's been all season.”

Ann Gleason (3-0-1) secured her second consecutive shutout in net, stopping six Grizzly shots. She and the Cyclones have now gone 267 straight minutes without allowing a goal. The Cyclones have allowed just one goal, a penalty kick marker, in the last 319 minutes.
