OMAHA, Neb. ? Amanda Bradberry hit a home run but that was all the Creighton pitching staff would allow as the Bluejays beat Iowa State, 3-1, to earn the doubleheader sweep on Tuesday at the CU Sports Complex.
The Cyclones (19-10) took an early lead on Bradberry's first homer of the season, a solo shot off Amanda Hess that led off the second inning.
The Bluejays (17-10) would respond, putting two runs on the board in their half of the second. The inning was keyed by a Mary Egan double that plated Michelle Graner and Jess Stige.
After Iowa State spoiled opportunities to score in the fifth and sixth, Creighton tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth as Renae Sinkler doubled to score Bailey Dawson and increase its lead to 3-1.
Tara Oltman allowed a one-out single to Kelsey Kidwell in the seventh but retired the next two batters to pick up the save. Oltman finished with two strikeouts. Hess (4-4) tossed four innings and allowed three hits for the win.
Rachel Zabriskie (9-3) took the loss, giving up three runs on six hits. The freshman fanned five Bluejay hitters in the game.
Iowa State returns to action Friday as it opens Big 12 play at 15th-ranked Baylor.
