AMES, Iowa ? Heidi Kidwell hit her first career home run and Rachel Zabriskie allowed just one run as Iowa State beat North Dakota State, 6-1, Tuesday afternoon at the Southwest Athletic Complex. The second game of the doubleheader was cancelled due to cold and windy conditions.
After NDSU (17-13) got on the scoreboard in the second inning, Kidwell lifted an Andi Padilla pitch over the centerfield wall to score Bianca Lopez and give the Cyclones a 2-1 lead.

Lopez, Jacquelyn Beatty and Kelsey Kidwell were responsible for the doubles in the inning while Alex Johnson had a two-run single down the left field line to make it 6-1.
Zabriskie (12-12) did the rest, scattering six hits in difficult conditions. The lone Bison run was unearned and Zabriskie fanned eight NDSU hitters.
Four Cyclones collected two hits in the game, led by Johnson who drove in two runs for the third-straight game. Lopez had a career-high two hits in the game while Heidi Kidwell, Carrie Monroe and Sydni Jones also had a pair of hits in the win.
Padilla (12-7) took the loss for the Bison, giving up six runs on 12 hits.
The Cyclones will be back in action Thursday with a doubleheader in Des Moines against Drake. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
