Cyclones Beat Cal-Santa Barbara, 11-5

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Iowa State's California duo of Erica Miller and Tori Torrescano collected six hits and drove in six runs as the Cyclones defeated UC-Santa Barbara, 11-5, Friday evening at the Mustang Classic. With the win, the Cyclones climb back above the .500 mark with a 12-11 record.

Miller went 4-for-4 with a homer and two runs batted in, while Torrescano finished 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBI. Torrescano (1-2) also picked up her first career win in the circle, allowing five runs, none of which were earned, in the complete game.

Sydni Jones drove in a pair of runs for the Cyclones, who got at least one hit from every player in the lineup.

The Cyclones scored five in the first to get out to a comfortable lead. Jones had a two-run single and Torrescano hit a three-run homer in the inning.

In the third, Kelsey Kidwell had an RBI single as the Cyclones increased the lead to 7-0.

The Cyclones tacked on another in the fourth as Torrescano again came through with a run-scoring single.

The Gauchos (7-12) put five runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth, but Miller led off the following inning with her second homer of the season and ISU went on to score two runs.

The Cyclones added another insurance run in the top of the seventh en route to their third win in a row.

The Cyclones will be back in action Saturday against Cal Poly. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. (CT).
