AMES, Iowa – A 34-0 across over 13 first and second half minutes pushed the Iowa State women's basketball team (8-2, 0-0 Big 12) past the Howard Bison (1-12, 1-1 MEAC) 90-44 in Hilton Coliseum. Eleven different Cyclones scored as Iowa State shot 50.7 percent from the field.
How it happened…Iowa State started off slow offensively, going 2-of-13 from the field to start. The Cyclones would pick things up connecting on six of their next seven field goals to grab a 24-17 lead with 9:02 left in the first. Iowa State would close the half shooting 48.5 percent from the field. Junior Kidd Blaskowsky reached double-figures in the first half (11) to lead all scorers.
The Cyclones continued their offensive stride in the second half, starting off on a 30-0 run in the second to lead Howard 72-28 with 7:55 remaining. Iowa State's run would be snapped with 7:32 to play in the second half as Howard netted a jumper. ISU pushed its lead to as many as 48 points in the second half.
The Cyclones would place three in double digits with Fernstrom (18), Blaskowsky (14) and
Seanna Johnson (10).
Game Ball Goes To...Bryanna Fernstrom. Fernstrom went 8-of-14 from the field, netting a team-high 18 points. Fernstrom also pulled in six rebounds and registered a career-high four blocks. Her 18 points was the fifth time this season she scored in double figures.
