Cyclone Headlines- The Iowa State softball team will close out the regular season at home against the Kansas Jayhawks. The series starts Friday at 4 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday games starting at noon.
- The game on Saturday will be designated as Senior Day, with Iowa State honoring its seniors prior to the game. This year's senior class is Paris Imholz, Maddie Reese, Stacy Roggentien, Lexi Slater, Jorden Spendlove and Hayley Womack.
- Iowa State is at home for the second consecutive weekend, after having a 1-2 weekend at home to Texas Tech previously. ISU won the series opener 5-2 over the Red Raiders, before dropping a pair of close ones, 2-1 in eight innings and 6-5, a game which saw ISU bring home three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but come up a run short.
- During the seventh rally, centerfielder Brittany Gomez recorded her 216th career base hit, tying Iowa State's school record held by Jenny Condon (1987-90). The junior's next hit will give her the school record, to go with already holding ISU's school records for runs and stolen bases in a career and career batting average, though she still has a full season to go.
- Gomez will be looking to take down another of Condon's records this weekend, single-season hits. Gomez has 75, two from tying and three from breaking Condon's 77 she posted in 1988.
- The Cyclones were led in the Texas Tech series by Aly Cappaert, who hit .600 in the three games, and slugged 1.000 for the weekend. Last week against Green Bay and TTU, Cappaert went 10-for-18 (.556) with three home runs, seven RBIs and a 1.111 slugging percentage.
- Led by the trio of Maddie Reese (11 home runs), Cappaert (nine) and Lexi Slater (nine), Iowa State has hit 38 home runs in 2015, the second-most by an ISU team in program history. The record is 40 by the 2013 Cyclones.
- Also as a team, Iowa State has 400 base hits on the season, the fifth time in program history ISU has recorded 400 hits in a season. Four of those five seasons have come in the last six years.
- The Iowa state pitching staff is led by Stacy Roggentein, who has a 3.51 ERA in 127.2 innings this season. She has improved tremendously from her first season as a Cyclone last year, when she posted a 10.50 ERA.
