ISU got it right back on Dale Pierson's first career interception and the Cyclones tied it up on freshman running back Joshua Thomas' first TD scamper.
After a pair of field goal misses earlier in the game, Cole Netten put the Cyclones in front for the first time in 2015 with a 24-yard field goal. Jay Jones had a big sack for the Cyclones, knocking UNI out of field-goal range near the end of the first half.
Richardson connected with Dondre Daley for a 36-yard touchdown pass and also hit Allen Lazard for a 13-yard TD as ISU opened up a 24-7 lead after three quarters.
Trever Ryen added to the Cyclone lead when the walk-on returned a UNI punt 81 yards for a touchdown.
