The Cyclones entered the locker room at halftime holding a 28-25 lead. Blaskowsky led all scorers with eight in the first half, followed by Buckley with seven.
In the third quarter, Kansas would cut the Iowa State lead to just one, until the Cyclones went on a 9-2 run and took control. Sophomore Bryanna Fernstrom scored five points during the stretch and seven total in the quarter, after connecting on just one field goal in the first half. The Cyclones led 44-34 with 10 minutes to play.
The Jayhawks cut into the lead, as Lauren Aldrigde scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to make it a 44-39 Cyclone lead. Iowa State would once again respond to the Jayhawk run, going on an 8-0 spurt of their own over the next two minutes to take control, 52-39.
