Game #12Â - Kansas State
• Iowa State opens Big 12 Conference play at home against Kansas State on Friday evening, the earliest conference opener in school history...the Cyclones look to improve on their nine-game winning streak when it hosts the Wildcats.
• After playing four of its first five games on the road, Iowa State is in the midst of playing eight consecutive games spanning 46 days inside Iowa's borders, including seven of the games at Hilton Coliseum...the Cyclones will open Big 12 play with two home games for the first time since 2005-06, which were also against Kansas State and Texas.
#CycloneNotes
• Iowa State is looking to run its winning streak to 10 games after starting the season 0-2...a win would give the Cyclones their longest winning streak under Steve Prohm and match the third-longest streak in school history...this is the second nine-game winning streak ISU has posted under Prohm, who also won the first nine games he coached for the Cyclones back in 2015-16.Â
• ISU has won its last six Big 12 home openers and is 10-11 all-time in Big 12 openers...last season, ISU rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit against Texas Tech to win 63-56 in the Big 12 opener...the Cyclones used a 16-0 run to turn the tide back in their favor.
• Iowa State has leaned on its guard trio of Nick Weiler-Babb, Donovan Jackson and Lindell Wigginton to turn around its early season struggles...the trio is averaging a combined 44.2 points per game, which is 58.5 percent of ISU's total points...they've posted all 11 of ISU's 20-point games and Wigginton and Weiler-Babb have five of the team's seven double-doubles this season.
• Wigginton continues to be one of the nation's top freshmen...he has posted four 20-point games, matching Barry Stevens' total and leaving him just one shy of Craig Brackins and Ron Harris for the third-most by any Cyclone rookie...Wigginton is currently shooting 45.1 percent behind the arc, which would top Jake Sullivan's freshman record (at least 20 made threes) of 44.9 percent in 2000-01.
• Weiler-Babb continues his strong play from the point guard position...he is the only player in the nation averaging 12.5 points, 7.0 assists and 7.0 rebounds...he is one of the best rebounding guards in the nation, having pulled down at least five rebounds in 10 consecutive games, including 12 against Maryland Eastern Shore...he is eighth nationally dishing out 7.4 assists per game, which includes four games with double-digit dimes.
• Jackson is ISU's biggest long-range threat, having connected on 33 three-pointers during ISU's nine-game winning streak (3.7 per game) and 35 threes overall this season...the Milwaukee native has scored in double figures in eight of the last nine games...he is currently riding a career-best nine-game streak with a three-pointer...Jackson has made 29-of-31 free throws this season.
• Cameron Lard and Solomon Young have emerged in the frontcourt for the Cyclones...Lard is averaging 10.0 points on the season, including 12.3 points and shooting 70.6 percent from the field the last six games...Young is averaging 8.0 points and 7.0 rebounds the last four games after pulling down 12 boards in the Cyclones' last outing.
• Prohm and the Cyclones hope to have a trio of injured Cyclones back in the near future: Hans Brase (sprained ankle, 1 game missed); Jakolby Long (concussion, 5 games missed); Zoran Talley Jr. (foot, 5 games missed).

• Jackson has made a 3-pointer in a career-best nine consecutive games.
• Wigginton is shooting 46.7 percent behind the arc during ISU's nine-game winning streak.
• Steve Prohm won his 50th game as head coach of the Cyclones when ISU beat Boise State...only Tim Floyd & Larry Eustachy reached 50 wins faster.
• According to KenPom.com, ISU owns the third-best homecourt advantage in Division I when playing at Hilton Coliseum.
• Hans Brase is just 105 points away from 1,000 in his collegiate career.
• Jeff Beverly is 12-for-16 at the line this season...he has not missed a free throw outside the Tulsa game (0-4).
• The Cyclones are 9-0 with Lard in the lineup.
• Last season, ISU players missed five total games due to injury...the total this season is at 13 games missed.
• A win against the Wildcats would give ISU its third perfect December in the last five seasons (2013, 2014).
• A win would also move Prohm into ISU's top-10 for conference wins, tying him with Clayton Sutherland (1948-54) and Lynn Nance (1977-90)...Prohm currently has a 22-14 record in Big 12 play.
