ATHENS, Georgia – Even though Iowa State (3-2, 1-0 Big 12) dropped today's meet to No. 6 Georgia (2-2, 0-1 SEC) by a score of 197.000-195.900, Monday's score was the highest away score in the month of January since 2017.
The Cyclones opened the day on bars and used great routines from Meaghan Sievers and Laura Burns, to achieve a season high 48.900. The momentum used from bars carried over to every other apparatus. ISU additionally used multiple career highs to earn season highs on vault (48.900), floor (49.075) and beam (48.975).
Iowa State's most noteworthy routine of the competition goes to freshman Grace Woolfolk. Woolfolk recorded a 9.925 on beam which is the highest ISU score on balance beam since Haylee Young did it in 2017.
Head coach Jay Ronanye was not only thrilled with today's result, he proud of his team's effort. "Things didn't go as well as they did to start but they moved past that," Ronayne noted. "Competing in front of a TV audience was very impressive, and it shows that we have a lot to look forward to."
Floor Exercise
Iowa State posted their highest floor score of the season tallying a 49.075. Four Cyclones earned career high marks. Maddy Langkamp led off for ISU by tallying a career high 9.750. In her first three competitions at ISU, Langkamp has improved each routine scoring a 9.700, 9.725 and now a 9.750. Laura Burns earned a new career high scoring a 9.800. Sophia Steinmeyer also joined the career high party scoring a 9.825. Cassie Diaz closed with her career high 9.800. Amidst all of the career highs, Meaghan Sievers recorded Iowa State's individual season high on floor with a 9.875. Molly Russ added a 9.775 to the team score as well.

"I had a lot of fun today. Coming in here today, knowing that there was 10,000 fans, I just tried to have fun and enjoy the crowd."
Balance Beam
Iowa State's fantastic day on the balance beam highlighted by Grace Woolfolk's 9.925. This is the first 9.925 since Haylee Young accomplished this in 2017. Woolfolk cemented her name into the record books earning one of the highest scores in ISU history. Iowa State also used impressive 9.800 performances from Sydney Converse and Molly Russ to achieve their team score. Freshman Meixi Semple made her Iowa State debut, tallying a 9.675 and Sophia Steinmeyer tied her career high with a 9.775.

"It was a dream come true because I grew up coming here and coming to these meets. To go out there and do my job for the team and doing the best I could in front of my friends and family supporting me was so crazy, and I am just so happy."
Uneven Bars
Iowa State started the meet on the uneven bars and did not disappoint. The Cyclones tallied their best team bars score of the season with a 48.950. ISU was led by Meaghan Sievers who tied a career high scoring a 9.900. Laura Burns (9.800), Natalie Howoritz (9.725) and MJ Johnson (9.775) all recorded season highs. Casandra Diaz and Maddy Langkamp also competed and earned scores of 9.750 and 9.700.
Vault
ISU's most consistent event this season has been vault, and that didn't change today. The Cyclones tallied a score of 48.900 highlighted by MJ Johnson and Meaghan Sievers. Johnson posted a new career high 9.750 and Sievers added a season high 9.875. Both Sophia Steinmeyer and Phoebe Turner tallied 9.775s, and Kelly Martin earned a 9.725. In the first vault of her ISU career, Maddy Langkamp scored a 9.675.
All Around
Meaghan Sievers was the Cyclones' representative in the all-around, notching a 39.250.
