AMES, Iowa - No. 14 Iowa State begins 2022 and Big 12 play on Sunday against West Virginia at 3 p.m. inside Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones had a strong non-conference slate, going 11-1 which included a win over then-No. 12 Iowa, going 3-0 against its Divsion I in-state rivals for the first time since 2013-14, winning the Gulf Coast Showcase and tying the school record for 3-pointers in a game.

KEY STORYLINES
-Iowa State was last in action on Dec. 19, 2021 against Prairie View A&M, defeating the Panthers 108-39 behind a school-record tying 19 3-pointers (also on Jan. 10, 2021 at Texas Tech).
-The Cyclones' 3-point barrage was led by six each from Lexi Donarski and Aubrey Joens. Aubrey Joens ranks second in the country with 45 made 3-pointers on the season.
-As a team, Iowa State is one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the country ranking first in both 3-pointers made (144) and 3-pointers made per game (12.0).
-Iowa State is the only team in the country to have three players with at least 30 3-pointers on the season. Joining Aubrey Joens in that department is Donarski (38) and sister Ashley Joens (33).
-Ashley Joens, the 2021 Cheryl Miller Award winner, leads Iowa State at 19.9 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per contest. She is one of four nationally to be averaging at least 19.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg, posting six double-doubles in the process.
-Against Prairie View A&M, Emily Ryan posted one of the most unique stat lines of the season: 12 points, a career-high 15 assists, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal with no turnovers in 27 minutes.
-Ryan, who leads the Big 12 and ranks third in the country at 6.8 assists per game, posted the 10th game since 1999-00 with at least 15 assists and no turnovers. Compared to the other performances, she did it while scoring the most points and in the fewest minutes.
LAST TIME OUT
-No. 12 Iowa State closed out 2021 with a historic 3-point outburst to beat Prairie View A&M 108-39 on Dec. 19 at Hilton Coliseum.Â
-The Cyclones tied the school record with 19 made 3-pointers in the victory, matching last season's 19 at Texas Tech (Jan. 10, 2021). The 19 is also a new Hilton Coliseum record, taking down the previous best of 18 by the Cyclones against Missouri (Feb. 19, 2000) and Detroit (Dec. 14, 2008).
-Lexi Donarski led the Cyclones with 26 points, including six 3-pointers. She went 10-of-17 from the field.
-Emily Ryan put up a unique stat line of 12 points, a career-high 15 assists (T-2 in ISU single-game history), five rebounds, two blocks, a steal and no turnovers.
-Ashley Joens also got a double-double, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds.Â
-Aubrey Joens got all 18 of her points on six 3-pointers.
-Morgan Kane and Beatriz Jordão each grabbed 10 rebounds. Kane had her second-straight double-figure rebound game, while Jordão's 10 was her most as a Cyclone.
