AMES, Iowa – The fifth-ranked Iowa State Cyclones return to Hilton Coliseum this weekend for the final home duals of the year. The Cyclones will face West Virginia on Friday night before hosting Air Force on Saturday. Both matches will be available on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, with live results available on TrackWrestling. Iowa State will honor its senior class following Friday's dual.
KEY STORYLINES
-Iowa State enters Friday's dual with the second-longest dual winning streak in the country with nine-straight victories. Penn State holds the top spot with 25 straight. Central Michigan, with eight, is the only other school with more than five-straight victories in the country.
-The Cyclones were a perfect 8-0 in duals in January, the first time Iowa State has been perfect in a month with more than three duals since going 4-0 in February 2015.
-In eight duals in 2022, Iowa State has lost just 11 matches. The Cyclones are 69-11 in dual matches on the back portion of the schedule and given up bonus points once.
-Iowa State is fresh off a weekend sweep of the state of Oklahoma, beating the No. 21 Sooners 22-9 on Friday and the No. 3 Cowboys 20-12 on Sunday.
-The Cyclones have tallied 255 takedowns in duals this season, led by 46 from Yonger Bastida. Sam Schuyler (31) and David Carr (29) join Bastida with over 25 takedowns. In his major decision on Sunday, Bastida recorded eight takedowns. Oklahoma State had five total takedowns in the 10 matches.
-Degen leads the Cyclones with nine four-point nearfalls, while Coleman has six. Degen also has a team-leading four two-point nearfalls.
