MEDIA CENTER
No. 15 Iowa State faces another difficult Sunday road test on Sunday when the Cyclones travel to Austin to take on one of their fellow Big 12 co-leaders, Texas at the new Moody Center. Tip between the Cyclones and Longhorns will be at 4 p.m. in a nationally televised contest on ESPN2.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Overall:Â UT leads 25-21
In Austin:Â UT leads 12-7
Fennelly vs. Texas:Â 21-25
FOUR THINGS
5 – Wins needed by head coach Bill Fennelly to reach 750 for his career. Of those 750, 578 have come during his tenure at Iowa State (the other 166 at Toledo).
14 – Points scored by Iowa State's co-leading scorers on Wednesday against Kansas State, with Lexi Donarski, Denae Fritz, Ashley Joens and Emily Ryan all finishing there.
35.9 – Opponents' field goal percentage against the Cyclones this season. Iowa State has only held teams under 36 percent shooting for the season once in program history, doing so in 200-10 at 35.7 percent.
876 – The Cyclones have made at least one 3-point field goal in an NCAA-record 876 consecutive games, a streak which encapsulates the entirety of the Bill Fennelly Era at Iowa State.
ANOTHER TOUGH DEFENDER!
The defensive exploits of Lexi Donarski and (prior to her injury) Stephanie Soares have been well covered in these spaces, but the past two games has seen another Cyclone show her considerable skill and tenacity on the defensive side of the ball in Denae Fritz. At Oklahoma last Sunday, Fritz helped hold Madi Williams, a 2,000 point career scorer and Wooden Award Midseason Watch List member to six points on 1-of-10 shooting. She was tasked with guarding the Big 12's leading scorer in Gabby Gregory of K-State on Wednesday, and did her part to hold her to nine points on 3-of-14 shooting, and almost 15 points below her season average heading into the game.
ANOTHER RECORD INCOMING
As has been covered on many fronts, Ashley Joens is running out of career records to break at Iowa State. She has her name to eight major career record categories, including points, 3-pointers made and games played and started, but another big one will be likely coming her way on Sunday. Joens enters the contest against UT tied for ISU's all-time rebounding record at 1,209 with Angie Welle (1999-02) and will have it to her own with one more rebound. Getting that board would push Joens into sole possession of fifth place in Big 12 history for career rebounds.
