MEDIA CENTER
No. 18 Iowa State will be looking to wrap up a 2-0 week Saturday evening at Hilton Coliseum, hosting the Kansas Jayhawks in a 5 p.m. tipoff. The Cyclones got the week started on Wednesday with a 69-64 victory over Oklahoma State. It was a back-and-forth contest for three quarters, before a fourth quarter run gave ISU some breathing room to finish the win.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Overall:Â Series Tied 47-47
In Ames:Â ISU Leads 27-16
Fennelly vs. Kansas:Â 35-20
FOUR THINGS
4 – Wins needed by head coach Bill Fennelly to reach 750 for his career. Of those 746, 580 have come during his tenure at Iowa State (the other 166 at Toledo).
5 – Assists needed by Emily Ryan to surpass Alison Lacey for fourth in Iowa State history for career assists. Ryan enters Wednesday's contest with 524 career dimes.
768 – Career free throw attempts by Ashley Joens, tying her for the school record with Angie Welle (1999-02). Her next free throw attempt gives her sole possession of another school record.
878 – The Cyclones have made at least one 3-point field goal in an NCAA-record 878 consecutive games, a streak which encapsulates the entirety of the Bill Fennelly Era at Iowa State.
FOR COACH FEN
Iowa State's victory over Oklahoma State on Wednesday night came without head coach Bill Fennelly in attendance (only the second game of his 28-year ISU tenure he had missed), who was attending to personal matters. With Associate Head Coach Jodi Steyer in charge, the Cyclones were able to take care of business and get this one for "Coach Fen".
KANE TRAIN LEAVING THE STATION!
Morgan Kane got her first start of the season on Wednesday against Oklahoma State and showed her coaches and teammates that the faith in the redshirt senior was well place. She finished with a season-high 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds, four on the offensive glass.
