AMES, Iowa – No. 8 Iowa State steps away from dual action for a weekend to compete at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Dec. 1-2. The toughest in-season tournament of the year, 15 of the top 20 teams in FloWrestling's tournament rankings will send squads to Vegas.
Action from the Westgate Paradise Event Center begins at 11 a.m. (CT) Friday and can be streamed on FloWrestling.
Iowa State will also send a contingent of wrestlers to the Doane Open Saturday. More info on that tournament can be viewed at the end of this story.

NOTABLES
- This marks Iowa State's first appearance at the Cliff Keen Invitational since 2019. ISU's best team finish at the tournament came in 2014 when the Cyclones finished fourth.
- The Cliff Keen will serve as a great test and measuring stick for the Cyclones. It is one of the deepest regular season tournaments on the NCAA wrestling calendar. If all teams registered bring their starters, 176 ranked wrestlers will be in action - over half of all the ranked wrestlers in the country.
- Iowa State wrestlers have pushed the pace and been aggressive on their feet this season. The Cyclones own a 132-19 takedown advantage over their opponents in four duals.
- Evan Frost was named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week after he picked up a statement win with an 8-1 victory over No. 8 Brody Teske. It marked the highest ranked win of the freshman's career. It is the second week in a row ISU's lower weights have been recognized by the league after 125-pounder Kysen Terukina received the honor a week ago.
- Casey Swiderski notched his sixth-career top-15 win with a decision over Iowa's No. 9 Victor Voinovich III. Swiderski used two first-period takedowns to win, 6-3. Swiderski is on a team-best seven-match win streak to begin the season.
- David Carr is three wins away from becoming the 39th member of Iowa State's 100-win club. Carr has been tested early and already has a pair of top-5 wins this season against No. 4 Dean Hamiti and No. 5 Michael Caliendo.
- In his first season at heavyweight, Yonger Bastida is 4-0 with all four victories coming with bonus points. Bastida has a 24:1 takedown ratio this season.
