IOWA STATE GAME NOTES
MEDIA CENTER
It is Championship Sunday for Iowa State as the Cyclones will look to win the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship against No. 1 seed and No. 15 Texas at 1 p.m. The Cyclones earned their shot at the title with an 82-72 victory over No. 14 Oklahoma on Saturday.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Overall:Â UT Leads 26-22
At Neutral Sites: Series Tied 4-4
Fennelly vs. UT: 22-26
FOUR THINGS
17 – Iowa State is at 269 3-pointers on the season, tied for the ninth-most in program history. The top-10 3-pointer seasons in ISU history have all come under head coach Bill Fennelly.
13 – Now at 3,009 career points, Ashley Joens is 13th in NCAA Division I Women's Basketball history for career scoring.
156 – Ashley Joens is the BIg 12 leader for career games played at 156.
892 – The Cyclones have made at least one 3-point field goal in an NCAA-record 892 consecutive games, a streak which encapsulates the entirety of the Bill Fennelly Era at Iowa State.
DIEWING WHAT IT TAKES
Nyamer Diew's 19-point effort (including four 3-pointers) against Oklahoma yesterday was incredible in many contexts. She did it coming off the bench (in the second half, that was a request of hers to the coaching staff), she did it after not scoring against Baylor on Friday and she did it in the Big 12 semifinals.
'GOAT' COMPANY
Ashley Joens is now 13th in NCAA Division I Women's Basketball history for career points at 3,009 and the next names on the list are definitely in the 'GOAT' territory: Cheryl Miller of USC at 3,018 (a name familiar to many ISU fans with Joens winning the Cheryl Miller Award twice), Tennessee legend Chamique Holdsclaw at 3,025, UConn's Maya Moore is 10th at 3,036 and former Delaware star and now WNBA star Elena Delle Donne at 3,039 in ninth.
