Academics Names February Student-Athletes of the Month

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Athletics Academic Services announced Sofia Cabezas, Robert Jones, Grant Stotts and Lauren Thomas as the February Student-Athletes of the Month.
Sofia Cabezas – Tennis
Hometown: Valencia, Venezuela
Major: Management
Cabezas currently holds two ranked wins in singles action and is on a six-match win streak in doubles in her junior campaign. As a sophomore, Cabezas combined with Miska Kadleckova to become the first doubles pair in school history to reach the ITA National Fall Championships. Cabezas also was part of the team that made its first NCAA Tournament in ISU history as a freshman. Academically, Cabezas is an Academic All-Big 12 team member and ITA Scholar-Athlete.
Robert Jones – Basketball
Hometown: Prior Lake, Minn.
Major: Economics
Jones put up a season-high 11 points in two games and held averages of 5.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in his senior season. Jones joined the Cyclones as a junior, starting in all three 2022 NCAA Tournament games. Also as a junior, Jones scored a season-high 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting against No. 3 Baylor.
Grant Stotts – Wrestling
Hometown: West Des Moines, Iowa
Major: Industrial Design
Stotts closed out his senior season with an 11-6 record at 157 pounds and has ended each year with a winning record. Stotts has totaled eight major decisions and six pins through his Cyclones career. Academically, Stotts is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team member.
Lauren Thomas – Gymnastics
Hometown: Loveland, Colo.
Major: Marketing
Thomas posted a career high of 9.900 on beam at UCLA and matched her career high of 9.850 on bars at Oklahoma this season as a junior. Thomas also has competed on vault in her Cyclone career, going out to a best of 9.600.
