MADISON, Wis. – The No. 4 Iowa State men's cross country team continued its impressive run with a runner-up finish at the 2024 Pre-National meet on Saturday morning. The Cyclones competed against some of the nation's top teams, as 19 squads were ranked in the top 30 entering the meet.
ISU had a trio of individuals place in the top 25 to lead the way, as freshman Robin Kwemoi Bera placed fifth to lead the effort. Kwemoi Bera also finished fifth at the Nuttycombe Invitational three weeks ago, an impressive start to his rookie season.
Following Kwemoi Bera were Said Mechaal and 2023 All-American Sanele Masondo, who made his season debut on Saturday. Mechaal was 19th while Masondo followed a few seconds later in 24th.
Devan Kipyego came in next for the Cyclones, finishing 30th with a time of 23:14.9 while Gable Sieperda rounded out the top 50 with a time of 23:31.0.
