ISU Names October Student-Athletes of the Month

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Academic Services has named Keshon Gilbert, Magda Keck, Braden Simonsen and Paige Wills the student-athletes of the month for October.
Keshon Gilbert, Basketball
Gilbert led the Cyclones in scoring last season as ISU took the Big 12 Championship title and made the Sweet 16. The guard was named the 2024 Big 12 Championship MVP and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Second Team. Gilbert is also a Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member.
Magda Keck, Soccer
Keck recently completed her redshirt junior season as Iowa State's leading scorer with three goals, including a game-winner in the season opener. Keck also led ISU with three assists on the season. Academically, Keck is an Academic All-Big 12 First Team and Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member.
Braden Simonsen, Football
Simonsen is in his redshirt sophomore season as a defensive lineman. Simonsen, an Ankeny native, helped the Hawks to a runner-up finish at state as a senior. In 2021, the lineman earned Class 5A First Team All-State honors. Simonsen is a Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member.
Paige Wills, Gymnastics
Wills will begin her sophomore season in 2025. As a freshman, the gymnast competed in 15 meets on vault and bars while making two starts on floor. Wills scored personal bests of 9.85 at two meets on vault. Wills has also earned her spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
