RETURN OF THE CHAMPIONS
The 2023 Big 12 Champions make their return to Kansas City to defend the title this week. Despite losing over 77 percent of its scoring and over 67 percent of its rebounding from a season ago, Iowa State finished with 12 conference wins for the fourth time in the last six seasons.
Tuesday will mark just the second time the Cyclones have played in consecutive title games in program history following a stretch from 1999-2001 that saw ISU win two-of-three championships. Last season, ISU defeated Baylor (74-63), Oklahoma (82-72) and Texas (61-51) for its fourth Big 12 title. The Cyclones previously won tournament titles in 2000 and 2001.
Emily Ryan and Nyamer Diew are the only Cyclones that return with Big 12 tournament experience. Diew was a key piece in ISU's semifinal win over Oklahoma, scoring 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting including four 3-pointers.
The floor general has recorded her 750th career assist 🫡@ryan_emily11 is the 11th NCAA DI women's basketball player since 1999-00 to tally at least 1,200 points, 750 assists, 500 rebounds and 160 steals.
