Student-Athletes of the Spring Semester Named

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Athletics Academic Services has announced the student-athletes of the spring 2024 semester. Those honored are Carley Caughron, Jacob Ellis, Paige Nakashima and Quinton Orr.
Carley Caughron, Swimming and Diving
Caughron completed a strong junior season recording 49 points at Big 12 Championships, the third-highest point total in program history. Caughron also became a top six ranked performer, including two performances in the top three, in three events. Caughron is an Academic All-Big 12 First Team and Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member.
Jacob Ellis, Football
Jacob Ellis completed his first season competing for Iowa State playing in five games including making two starts. Ellis totaled 15 tackles through the season, including highs of six at Ohio and five at Iowa. Academically, Ellis is also a Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree.
Paige Nakashima, Softball
Nakashima is fresh off her sophomore campaign. The infielder made two starts in 19 appearances and totaled five hits. Nakashima hit at .227 through the season while bringing in four runs. Nakashima is a multi-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member.
Quinton Orr, Track and Field/Cross Country
Orr just finalized a dominant redshirt sophomore season after advancing to NCAA West Prelims. The steeplechaser took sixth to score three points for Iowa State at Big 12 Championships. Orr also recorded a personal best in the 3,000-meter steeplechase of 8:44.49, the ninth-best performance in ISU history. Orr is a CSC Academic All-American, CSC All-District and multi-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree.
