44 Named to Winter Academic All-Big 12 Team

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State registered 44 Academic All-Big 12 team members participating in winter sports. A total of 40 earned First Team recognition while four earned Second Team distinction.
Iowa State gymnastics led the conference in the sport with 10 honorees. Swimming and diving student-athletes Ashley Bengtson, Winter Craig, Fallon DeWitt, Joscelyn Farner, Corinne Guist and Lauren Kimball all recorded perfect 4.00 GPAs.
Student-athletes from swimming and diving (19), gymnastics (10), wrestling (8), men's basketball (4) and women's basketball (3) were honored by the conference.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. Eligible student-athletes also have participated in at least 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year.
