Lightning Disrupts ISU vs. UCF

AMES, Iowa - A lightning delay in the 67th minute ended play Thursday night between Iowa State and UCF. The teams were knotted at zero, as lightning struck within an eight mile radius. Lightning continued, and with every strike in an eight mile radius resulted in a renewed 30-minute timer.
Match play was suspended at 7:35Â p.m. and a decision to make the match a no contest was at 9:28.Â
Iowa State's last no contest occurred in 2021 against Oklahoma State at the Cyclone Soccer Complex. ISU and OSU also had the game be suspended at 7:35 p.m. in the 67th minute, resulting in a no contest.
The Cyclones are currently scheduled to be back in action this Sunday against No. 21 Colorado. Sunday action is set to kick off at noon and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
