BOULDER, Colo. – Iowa State (16-4, 6-3 Big 12) fell in four on the road at No. 24 Colorado (18-3, 9-1 Big 12). Maya Duckworth entered the exclusive 1,000 kill club in the match, becoming the 12th in Iowa State history to hit the mark.
After dropping the first two sets by scores of 22-25 and 23-25, Iowa State responded winning the third 25-16. ISU held the lead in the fourth before a late Colorado push ended the match in the fourth 25-23.
Duckworth had seven kills in the match and broke the barrier of 1,000 in the third set with a kill assisted by Morgan Brandt. Brandt ended the match with 44 assists and eight digs.
Alea Goolsby tied the match lead with 19 kills, while Tierney Jackson was a star with an errorless 12 kills on 16 swings. Jackson's hitting percentage of .750 ties the third-highest mark in school history, and is the highest since 2018. Jackson also had four blocks.
Rachel Van Gorp entered double figures in the second set, bringing her 10-plus dig streak to 25 matches while totaling 40 career matches. Van Gorp led the match with 19, her second-straight match with as many.
Iowa State had 12 blocks on the day, led by freshman Reagan Hanfelt with a career-high six. Amiree Hendricks-Walker made her return to the court and put up five blocks while hitting six kills.
SET ONE
ISU used a 3-0 run to take its first lead at 5-4, while Goolsby had her third kill on as many swings to put the scoreboard at 7-7. Colorado followed with a run of four, and continued to lead at 15-10. ISU brought it back within two at 15-13 and 16-14 after blocks, but the Buffaloes remained up with the Cyclones calling their second timeout at 19-14. Iowa State came within two late, but the home team would take the opening set 25-22.
SET TWO
Hendricks-Walker put ISU on the board at 3-1 with her fourth kill, and that kill sparked a run of six. Goolsby had kill No. 6 to keep Iowa State with the lead at 8-6, but CU responded taking a 10-9 lead. Lead changes continued to be the theme as Iowa State entered the media timeout up 15-12. ISU's eighth block made it 17-15, while the Buffs went on their way to lead 21-20. Three ties came next, but Colorado remained ahead winning the second 25-23 despite getting outhit .419-.294.
SET THREE
Jackson put down her seventh kill on eight attempts for the Iowa State's first point, and moments later the Cyclones hit a double-digit scoring run of 10 to lead 13-4. Duckworth kept the energy strong notching kill No. 1,000 to make it 18-10 with her fifth kill of the match, and Iowa State carried on to keep the match going with a set score of 25-16.
SET FOUR
Goolsby sent her 14th kill over the net to extend a run of three and cause a Colorado timeout at 8-3. The freshman's 15th made it 11-5 as the Cyclones continued to build a lead. CU brought it back to a two-point set (15-13) while Jackson had her 10th kill on 13 swings to bring the scoreboard to 17-14. A tie at 18s was then seen, and the Buffs kept their run going to lead 20-18. The home team found match point at 24-20 and three Goolsby kills kept ISU alive, but Colorado ended things at 25-23.

Iowa State has a big week at home coming up hosting two ranked opponents. No. 19 Baylor first comes to town Wednesday before No. 6 Arizona State visits Ames Friday. Both matches begin at 6:30 p.m.
