AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women's basketball junior point guard Jada Williams has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Award watch list, announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday. It is the first time in her career that she has been featured on the award's watch list.
Williams comes to Iowa State after playing her first two seasons at Arizona. The Kansas City, Missouri native led the Wildcats in scoring (12.7 PPG) and assists (87) a season ago. She started 30 games for Arizona while recording the second-highest free throw percentage in the Big 12 at .862 (75-87). The 5-8 guard posted 23 double-figure scoring performances on the season, leading the Wildcats in scoring in eight games. She finished with career highs in points (25) and rebounds (7) at Utah (Jan. 31, 2025). As a freshman, Williams earned a Pac-12 All-Freshman Team nod after playing in all 34 contests and making 28 starts while averaging 9.5 points per game, the third-highest scoring rate among league freshmen.
Iowa State plays an exhibition contest against UW-Oshkosh on Tuesday, October 28 in Hilton Coliseum before opening the regular season on Monday, November 3 against St. Thomas. Tip-off on Tuesday night in Ames is set for 6:30 p.m.
