September Student-Athletes of the Month Announced

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Athletics Academic Services has named its September student-athletes of the semester. The honorees are Angelo Jackson, Cade Kelderman, Kerilyn Mullica and McKinley Wheeler.
Angelo Jackson, Football
Jackson is in his redshirt freshman season as a defensive back. In high school, Jackson was a Class 3A Second-Team All-State selection. He scored 25 touchdowns as a senior and 12 as a junior, and was a state participant in track. Jackson works toward his degree in mechanical engineering.
Cade Kelderman, Men's Basketball
Kelderman played in 13 games as a sophomore in the 2024-25 season. The point guard helped ISU to an NCAA Tournament win with a career-high five points, three assists and three steals vs. Lipscomb. Kelderman also had a career-high two rebounds vs. No. 17 BYU in the Big 12 Tournament. Kelderman is majoring in business analytics.
Keirlyn Mullica, Swimming & Diving
Mullica enters her junior season as a backstroker. Last season, Mullica totaled seven finishes in the top five through three events. Mullica had the third-fastest 100 back and 100 fly time on the team in 2024-25. Mullica majors in biology.
McKinley Wheeler, Women's Cross Country/Track & Field
Wheeler is in her junior season on the cross country squad. Last season on the track, Wheeler won the 1,500m at the Cyclone Twilight and helped ISU to fourth-place finish in the 4x1,600m at Drake Relays. In her freshman cross country season, Wheeler took 12th at the Cyclone Preview and 13th at the Greeno/Dirksen Invite.
