AMES, Iowa - Iowa State offensive lineman James Neal III has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl. The game will be held January 27 at the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas.
Neal, a Grayson, Georgia native, started all 12 games for the Cyclones at left tackle in 2025, helping Iowa State finish the season with an 8-4 record.
He helped pave the way for Cyclone running backs as ISU averaged 4.4 yards per carry. Running back Carson Hansen finished with 952 yards and six touchdowns, while Abu Sama had 732 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
Neal played in 41 career games for the Cyclones after transferring in from Independence Community College following his freshman season. He made 32 career starts.
