AMES, Iowa – The No. 54 Iowa State tennis team hits the road for three matches in five days this week as they'll face Colorado State, No. 72 Colorado and No. 13 Texas Tech. The Buffaloes and Red Raiders will mark the start of Big 12 Conference play for the Cyclones.

THE SERIES
Iowa State is 1-2 all-time against Colorado State, with the last meeting coming in 1999, when the Rams won a 5-4 contest.
Iowa State is 5-27 in the all-time series versus Colorado. However, the Cyclones have won the last three matchups in 2010, 2011 and 2021.
Iowa State is 3-30 all-time against Texas Tech but has collected all three wins in the last five meetings in the series. The Cyclones will be seeking their first-ever win in Lubbock against the Red Raiders.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cyclones blanked South Dakota, 7-0 on Sunday to improve to 5-2 on the year. With the win, the team surpassed the 2024 win total in only one-third of the matches. The victory is also the first 7-0 sweep the Cyclones have had since Feb. 3, 2023.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Mari Paz Alberto Vilar has won eight of her last nine singles matches and four of her last five doubles matches heading into Wednesday. The freshman continued her hot streak on Sunday by winning her singles match, 6-3, 6-3, and doubles match with Julia Camblor, 6-2. Alberto Vilar now has a 14-6 singles record and 11-7 doubles record in 2024-25
