Carr, Coleman Set for Senior World Team Trials Challenge

AMES, Iowa - Former Cyclones David Carr and Marcus Coleman head to Louisville, Kentucky for the 2025 Senior World Team Trials Challenge tournament. Wrestling will take place May 16-17 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. Winners of the challenge tournament earn a Final X berth where they will wrestle for a spot on the USA World Team.

Carr (74 kg) and Coleman (86 kg) will compete under the Cyclone Regional Training Center and Titan Mercury Wrestling Club banners.

Carr was the runner-up at last month's US Open in Las Vegas. He rolled through his bracket before falling to Mitchell Mesenbrink (NLWC/TMWC) in the finals. Should Carr prevail at the challenge tournament this weekend, he would get another crack at Mesenbrink in a best 2-of-3 series for the world team spot.

Coleman finished in sixth place after advancing to the quarterfinals at the US Open. The winner of the 86 kg bracket at the challenge tournament will get Zahid Valencia (Cowboy RTC/TMWC) at Final X.
