2025 U23 Nationals & U20 World Team Trials Preview

AMES, Iowa - Four Cyclones are set to compete at the U20 and U23 World Team Trials May 30-June 1 in Geneva, Ohio. Christian Castillo, Tate Naaktgeboren, Nando Villaescusa and Daniel Herrera will all wrestle for a spot on Team USA for their respective age groups.

Castillo, a U17 World Silver Medalist in 2022, is set to compete in the U20 division at 57 kg while Naaktgeboren (86 kg), Villaescusa (86 kg) and Herrera (125 kg) will wrestle in the U23 division. The men's freestyle portion of the tournament will be wrestled on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1.

The winners of the U20 tournament at each respective weight class will go on to represent Team USA at the U20 World Championships. The U23 World Team spot at each weight will automatically go to a Senior National Team member at that weight. However, if no National Team member is eligible at that weight, the spot will go to the tournament winner.
