DENVER, Colo. – Following the NBA 2k26 Summer League, former Iowa State All-American Curtis Jones has signed with the Denver Nuggets on a two-way contract. The Nuggets did not have any picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.
In five games with the Nuggets in the NBA 2k26 Summer League, Jones averaged a team-best 14.6 points per game, while playing just 20.2 minutes per game. He shot 54.9 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from 3-point range. He was one of just three players in the Summer League to make at least 2.8 3-pointers per game, while shooting at least 43 percent. Jones came off the bench in the first four games before earning a start in the Summer League finale. He had 10 points in a loss to the Timberwolves before dropping 20 points in a loss to the Raptors. He closed the Summer League by leading the Nuggets to a pair of victories, scoring 13 points against the Clippers and a game-high 22 points against the Lakers in the finale.
NBA two-way contracts allow teams to sign players to a contract that allows them to play in both the NBA and the G League. Players can play in a maximum of 50 NBA regular season games and have the option to have the contract converted to a full contract at any time. The Nuggets have a full-time NBA G League team in the Grand Rapids Gold.Â
The 30th All-American in school history, Jones earned honorable mention honors from the Associated Press this past season. Jones was also named the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year and an All-Big 12 First Team selection, the first player in league history to earn both in the same season. Jones led the Cyclones in scoring with 17.4 points per game, while connecting on 88 3-pointers this season.
Jones, the best Sixth Man in America, came off the bench in 25 games this season. He averaged 17.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game off the bench. His 17.2 points per game off the bench this season are the most in the country for anyone coming off the bench, while he is one of just five players since 1996-97 to average 17 or more points off the bench in a season.
Should Jones appear in a game for the Nuggets, he would join Loren Meyer (1998-99) and Monte Morris (2017-22) as former Cyclones to play for the Nuggets. Â
