Cross Country Returns with 2025 Cyclone Preview

Iowa State cross country returns to action on Friday morning with the third annual Cyclone Preview in Ames. The meet will begin with the men's 6K at 8:30 am at the Iowa State Cross Country Course followed by the women's 5K race.

Last Time Out
At last season's national championship meet, the Iowa State men came up 13 points short from the program's first team title behind Big 12 foe BYU. It was the second time in four seasons the Cyclones were the NCAA Runners-Up. Maelle Porcher also represented the Iowa State women as an individual qualifier at the national meet.

The Course
The Iowa State Cross Country Course has hosted the Cyclone Preview for the last two seasons. In November 2026, the Cyclones will host the NCAA Midwest Regional meet. It marks the first time since 2017 that Iowa State will host the regional meet and fourth time in school history (1997, 2013). Iowa State was also the NCAA Championships host in 2000 and has hosted the Big 12 Championships four times (1996, 2008, 2018, 2023).
What to Watch For
- Iowa State will send out most of its younger runners on the roster, looking to add to a deep 2025 roster with four returning All-Americans.
- Quinton Orr, who finished in the top 10 at the Cyclone Preview a season ago, enters the meet following a top 20 NCAA finish in the steeplechase (8:44.02). He qualified for the national outdoor meet with his PR and No. 7 Iowa State time of 8:39.13 at the NCAA West Prelims.
- Riley Beach and Bella Heikes return to the grass for their senior seasons Friday morning. Beach and Heikes, along with Porcher, earned All-Region honors last season in Peoria with top 25 individual finishes.
- Betty Kipkore is set to make her Cyclone cross country debut on Friday morning after battling injuries a season ago.
