Cary, N.C. – All four members of the Iowa State tennis team competing in the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday advanced to day two of the tournament, which will continue Sunday.
In singles, Ashlee Narker began the day by taking down Amelia Tye (UMASS), 6-2, 6-1. Mari Paz Alberto Vilar was the next victorious Cyclone, as she defeated Arizona's Mari Garcia, 7-6 (4), 6-4. Shulzhenko was the third team member to win her singles match, as she earned a win over Northwestern's Autumn Rabjohns, 6-3, 6-2. Julia Camblor was the lone Cyclone to fall in singles, losing to Shach Lieberman (UCSB), 7-6 (1), 6-3.
Camblor and Narker also played in doubles, where they took down Penn State's Maiko Uchijima and Jordina Cegarra Ramirez, 6-3, 6-3, to advance to the round of 16.
