Iowa State swimming and diving will travel to Lincoln for their first meet of the season where they will go up against Nebraska (0-0, 0-0 Big Ten).
THE OPPONENT – Nebraska
Friday's match-up between the Cyclones and the Huskers will be their 52nd meeting since their first competition in 1972.
This will also be the first meet of the season for Nebraska, following their Scarlet vs. Cream Intrasquad event.
LAST TIME OUT – Cardinal & Gold
The Cyclones faced off against their teammates in their Cardinal &Â Gold meet where Cardinal defeated Gold with a final score of 139-128, winning 11 of 18 events.
Senior and Team Cardinal captain Abbi Crum led her team with a commanding performance, winning all four of her events in the 200 Breast, 200 Back, 200 IM, and the 200 Medley Relay. Grace Swoboda also contributed greatly to Team Cardinal, winning three of her four events in the 50 & 100 Breast, and the 100 Free. Team Gold was showcased by senior and team captain Emma Kuhn winning both the 100 Fly and 200 Free.
Diving finished in a sweep for Team Cardinal with sophomore Jade Hazes winning the 1-meter and junior Abby Tollefson winning the 3-meter.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR – Backstroke, Breaststroke, and IM
Continuing their success from Cardinal &Â Gold will be the main objective this week for Crum swimming in the Backstroke & IM, and Swoboda in the Breaststroke.
Cyclones head coach, Matt Leach, is excited about the team's leadership, energy, hard work, and where each athlete can go as the season progresses.
ON DECK – Florida State Invite
The Cyclones will face tough competition at the Florida State Invite on October 9-10. It will be the first time in program history Iowa State will swim in Tallahassee.
