WACO, Texas – Iowa State began outdoor season with action at the Clyde Hart Classic hosted by Baylor and the Central College Invite.

Candra King hit a big mark in the hammer throw, winning the event at the Central Invite with the third-best performance in school history of 207-3 (63.19m). Kamari Brown took second, also getting a PR with 187-11.

For the men, Zach Verzani won with 204-8 (62.39m) and Garret Wagner also hit a mark over 200 feet to take second with 200-8 (61.17m).

The women's 4x100m squad took third at the Clyde Hart Classic behind Baylor and TCU with 45.34, now No. 3 performance in school history and the fastest time since 2001.

In hurdles prelims, Zola N'Douma-Mona qualified for the final with 13.65, a PR time to debut the multi-event athlete at No. 7 in ISU history. The men raced next, with a trio of Cyclones advancing. Daylin Williams led Iowa State with third in prelims, clocking 14.06 (then-No. 10 ISU). Williams then improved on that time and took third in the final with 13.84 (No. 6 ISU) and Alec Carr took fourth with 13.86 (No. 7 ISU), matching his PR.

Fresh off an indoor First Team All-America honor, Rachel Joseph opened her outdoor season with a 200m of 23.62w.

Sydney Willits took third in the long jump with an opener of 20-9 1/4w, just over the wind-legal limit of 2.0 m/s with 2.4 m/s.

Next up, the Cyclones will be in competition at the Bobcat Invite & Multi, UCSD Triton Invite and Stanford Invite April 2-4.
