AMES, Iowa – Cyclones are set for NCAA Indoor Championships held in Fayetteville, Ark. as the NCAA announced official qualifiers, with Iowa State securing six entries.
Rachel Joseph enters her fifth-straight NCAA Championships through indoor and outdoor season after posting the No. 6 400m time nationally. Joseph clocked 51.25 (51.36 altitude conversion) for a season best at Big 12 Championships and went on to defend her Big 12 title.
Betty Kipkore makes her first NCAA Championships, heading to Fayetteville as the No. 8 seed in the 3,000m. The freshman set her mark at the Husky Classic, breaking the 2010 school record by 12 seconds.
Two men set qualifying times in the 5,000m, with Rodgers Kiplimo the No. 10 seed and Robin Kwemoi Bera the No. 11 seed. Kiplimo ran 13:18.35 (No. 2 ISU) at the Husky Classic, while Bera started his season with a 13:18.72 (No. 3 ISU) in December at the BU Opener. Both qualify for their first indoor championships after earning All-America honors at 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Mercyline Kirwa will run the 5,000m after qualifying with 15:09.13, the 10th-fastest time nationally. The time broke teammate Kipkore's school record of 15:15.30 as Kirwa ran at the Husky Classic. Kirwa took the Big 12 title in the event last week.
The team of Makayla Clark, Joseph, Emma Vorpagel and Kipkore locked up a spot at nationals in the distance medley relay. Their school record of 10:44.11 ran at the Arkansas Qualifier is the sixth-fastest in collegiate history and enters the squad as the No. 4 seed.
The women's distance medley relay qualifies for NCAA Indoor Championships for the first time in the NCAA era. The Cyclones took the DMR national title in 1981 while women competed under the AIAW.
NCAA Championships hosted by Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center begin Friday, March 13 and continue through Saturday, March 14.
